Essence is Canberra's premier transgressive music event.

2025's second edition, A Divergence In Darkness, is bigger, better, and more sonically destructive.

The fest proper will be held over Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October 2025. Friday 3rd October's Essentia Vermis pre-fest will be curated by Qld/NSW underground label Gutter Prince Cabal. (Monday 6 Oct is an ACT/NSW/Qld/SA public holiday.) A full ticket to the festival includes entry to Fri, Sat and Sun. Tickets for individual dates are also available.

Acts already announced run the gamut of metal, experimental, improvised, dungeon synth, industrial, goth, and more. More announcements to follow!
